Became a firefighter in 1972, Awarded BC Cobb Class “A” Medal of Honor for actions at Ground Zero, and a Heroism Citation from then NJ Governor Jim McGreevey. Retired. Living in Goodyear Arizona with my wonderful wife of 48 years, Diane.

Persons taught electronics at Fort Monmouth, NJ and then was sent to Vietnam in April of 1968 as an SP4. He was Sergeant in Charge of the avionics repair shop at the 73rd. Mark spent his working career as a radio broadcast engineer, which is what he was doing before the military. He is an active member with the local VFW, Legion and DAV.

Selected for Fixed Wing Q in 1987 picture taken at Ft Huachuca during system training. After retirement flew corporate for about 20 years. Went back to civil service as aeronautical analyst and retired from that in 2018. Did some foreign military sales and now am Director of Maintenance for the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation and Flying Museum in Atlanta while living in Little River SC. My two loves AH-1 & OV-1.

Pilot, 244th SAC, Can Tho, April 1969 - April 1970; 122nd SAC, Hanau, April 1970 - July 1972. Entered active duty in 1966 as a draftee. Commissioned though Engineer OCS in 1967. Flight School and Mohawk transition in 1968. Left active duty in 1972 as a Captain.

Now: Enjoying retirement after 25 years of corporate flying followed by 10 years as an instructor and Director of Training for FlightSafety Columbus while adding 33 years of army reserve and national guard assignments.

Retired as MI Lieutenant Colonel in 2003 after 24 years service roughly split between manned aerial Intelligence,
Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations and duty as an intelligence officer with two Army Special Forces Groups, and a Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) component. From 2005 to 2022 was a Special Correspondent for Janes Defence Weekly and Janes Sentinel.   
 
Resides in Longmeadow, MA.

After the Army, I was an Airline Pilot for World Airways, Frontier Airlines, and Continental Airlines and flew the B707, B727, B737, B757, B767 and the MD80.  Between Airline jobs, I was a FAA Air Carrier Operations Inspector and accident investigator.  After retirement from the airlines, I served as a County Planning Commissioner for 8 years and still do Emergency Communications Volunteer work.
